Bangers Blog: May 24, 2016

As some of you may have noticed, there is currently no official Grand Prix Bangers race for the month of November. This is partly due to the fact that most November races are Thanksgiving turkey trots, and partly because we don’t have a solid “go to” November race from past years. So, we are putting it up for a vote! The link below will let you choose one of three races, which are all very different in terms of distance, location, and overall vibe. The choices are:

1) The Busa Bushwhack Trail Race – Hosted by the Framingham Running Club, this one offers a choice of a 5.3- or 10-mile trail race. It’s on Sunday, October 30th, but we’ll let it slide as a November race! This would be another trail race to add to our list for the year. The race starts at 9 AM and goes through scenic Callahan State Park in Framingham. For details: http://www.gfrcrun.org/bushwhack/bushwhack.htm

2) The Cambridge Half Marathon – Cambridge 5k, who have brought us Craicfest, Yulefest, and the Freedom Run, are hosting their first half marathon this year. It’s on Sunday, November 13th at 8 AM. The course begins by the Galleria Mall and loops through the city of Cambridge. As per usual, this will end with an awesome post-race party in the CambridgeSide Galleria parking garage. 3) The Portland Waterfront 5K – As its name suggests, this is a 5k race in Portland, ME along the waterfront. It’s on Saturday, November 12, and although Portland is a little further away, the race does not start until 10 AM. This one is sponsored by Flatbreads Pizza and will end in a pizza party! A great excuse to hang out in Portland for a day, and it’s a Saturday. For details: http://www.running4free.com/RaceDetails.aspx?raceid=249

The poll will be left open for ONE WEEK to collect votes (don’t worry, I’ll remind you at least once). One note: If you can’t run in a race, please don’t vote for it. Pick your favorite for our November team race!
